Plagiarism Policy
The Parthenon Frontiers
The Parthenon Frontiers maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism and unethical publication practices across all its journals. Every manuscript submitted for publication must be the original work of the author(s), free from any form of plagiarism, duplication, or unauthorized reuse of content.
We are committed to upholding the integrity of academic research by ensuring that all articles published under The Parthenon Frontiers represent authentic, verifiable, and ethically produced scholarship.
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism occurs when an author uses another person’s ideas, words, data, or creative expressions without proper acknowledgment or permission. This includes, but is not limited to:
-
Copying text, tables, figures, or data from previously published work without citation
-
Paraphrasing another author’s work too closely
-
Submitting another author’s paper or self-published work as new (self-plagiarism or redundant publication)
-
Using content generated by AI tools without proper verification or citation
-
Failing to cite original sources of ideas, methods, or phrases
2. Plagiarism Detection Process
All manuscripts submitted to The Parthenon Frontiers are screened using reliable plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin, iThenticate, or equivalent tools before entering the peer review stage.
-
Acceptable Similarity Index: The total similarity (excluding references and small quotations) must not exceed 15%.
-
Minor overlap (below 10%) is generally acceptable if properly cited.
-
High similarity (above 25%) may lead to immediate rejection or resubmission request.
-
Any deliberate attempt to manipulate the originality check report will be considered unethical and result in rejection.
3. Editorial Actions in Case of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected at any stage—before or after publication—the following actions will be taken depending on the severity:
a. Before Publication
-
The manuscript will be rejected outright, and the author(s) will be notified with the similarity report.
-
Authors may be given one opportunity to revise and resubmit only in cases of minor, unintentional overlap.
-
A record of plagiarism will be maintained internally by the editorial office.
b. After Publication
If plagiarism is discovered after an article has been published:
-
The article will be immediately retracted from the journal website.
-
A retraction notice stating the reason will be published in its place.
-
The author’s institution or funding agency may be informed of the misconduct.
-
The author may be banned from future submissions to any journal under The Parthenon Frontiers.
4. Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are expected to:
-
Ensure that all submitted work is original and properly cited.
-
Avoid submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously.
-
Acknowledge all sources of content, funding, and collaboration appropriately.
-
Obtain necessary permissions for reuse of copyrighted materials.
-
Verify the accuracy and authenticity of data and references before submission.
5. Role of Reviewers and Editors
-
Reviewers and editors are encouraged to report suspected plagiarism during the review process.
-
Editors will verify all allegations using plagiarism reports and may request clarifications or raw data from the authors.
-
All cases of confirmed plagiarism will be handled according to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics)guidelines.
6. Ethical Commitment
The Parthenon Frontiers values originality and integrity as the foundation of scholarly communication. By submitting a manuscript, authors agree to abide by this plagiarism policy and understand that any violation may result in disciplinary action or retraction of the published article.
