Peer Review Process

The Parthenon Frontiers

All journals published under The Parthenon Frontiers follow a Double-Blind Peer Review Process to ensure the highest standards of academic integrity, objectivity, and transparency. In this system, both the authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other throughout the review cycle, guaranteeing impartial and unbiased evaluation of every manuscript.

1. Initial Screening

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial screening by the Editorial Office. This stage involves checking:

  • Relevance to the journal’s aims and scope

  • Compliance with author guidelines and formatting requirements

  • Ethical standards, originality, and plagiarism (acceptable similarity ≤ 15%)

Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be returned to the authors for correction or rejected prior to review.

2. Assignment to Reviewers

Manuscripts passing the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant research area.
The double-blind review ensures:

  • Reviewers are unaware of the authors’ identities

  • Authors are unaware of the reviewers’ identities

This approach maintains fairness and eliminates potential bias in the evaluation process.

3. Review Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers assess manuscripts based on:

  • Originality and novelty of the research

  • Scientific rigor and methodological accuracy

  • Clarity, coherence, and structure of writing

  • Relevance and contribution to the field

  • Appropriateness of references and discussion quality

  • Adherence to ethical research principles

Each reviewer submits a confidential report recommending one of the following:

  • Accept without revision

  • Accept with minor revisions

  • Major revision required (resubmission)

  • Reject

4. Editorial Decision

The Editor-in-Chief or Section Editor makes the final publication decision based on reviewer feedback and overall quality. Authors are notified via official communication, including reviewers’ anonymized comments and revision instructions (if applicable).

5. Revision and Resubmission

If revisions are requested, authors must:

  • Submit a revised version of the manuscript with highlighted changes, and

  • Provide a point-by-point response letter addressing each reviewer’s comment.

Revised manuscripts may undergo an additional review before the final decision.

6. Acceptance and Article Processing Charges (APC)

Once a manuscript is formally accepted for publication, the author will receive an Acceptance Letter along with a secure Article Processing Charge (APC) payment link.
The APC covers editorial handling, peer review coordination, DOI registration, indexing, and open-access publication.

Note:
The accepted article will be scheduled for publication only after the APC payment is successfully completed.
Once payment is confirmed, the manuscript enters the final production stage (proofreading, typesetting, DOI assignment, and online publication).

7. Proofing and Publication

After payment confirmation, authors receive the final proof for approval. Following this step, the article is officially published online with a DOI, appearing in the current issue of the respective journal under The Parthenon Frontiers.

8. Review Timeline

The average review process typically takes 2 to 5 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and subject complexity. The editorial office keeps authors informed at every stage of the process.

9. Confidentiality and Ethics

All manuscripts, reviews, and editorial communications are treated as strictly confidential. Reviewers and editors are prohibited from sharing or using unpublished material for personal advantage. Any conflicts of interest must be declared before participating in the review process.

The Parthenon Frontiers upholds the values of academic excellence, transparency, and ethical publishing, ensuring that every article published under its name meets the highest international research and editorial standards.
