Abstract

The rapid evolution of digitalization, distributed renewable energy resources, and intelligent power management technologies has transformed the concept of modern buildings from passive energy consumers into active participants within interconnected energy ecosystems. Digital buildings integrated with renewable power systems represent a critical pathway toward improving energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, enhancing grid flexibility, and enabling sustainable infrastructure development. This research paper examines advanced energy efficiency strategies for digital buildings by analyzing the integration of smart building technologies, renewable energy systems, energy routers, artificial intelligence-driven optimization, and intelligent grid communication frameworks. The study develops a conceptual and technical framework that combines digital building management systems with renewable power generation and energy Internet architectures to improve operational efficiency and energy coordination.
The research adopts a qualitative analytical methodology based on systematic synthesis of existing studies related to smart grids, energy routers, power routing technologies, renewable energy integration, and AI-based building energy optimization. The theoretical foundation is derived from emerging concepts such as digital grids, energy Internet architectures, solid-state transformers, distributed energy management, and intelligent power flow control. Previous studies have demonstrated that energy routers and advanced power electronic interfaces can enable flexible bidirectional energy exchange between distributed resources, buildings, and utility networks (Xu et al., 2011; Huang et al., 2011). Similarly, smart grid communication frameworks provide the infrastructure required for real-time monitoring, control, and optimization of energy flows (Abe et al., 2011).
The analysis highlights that combining renewable energy systems with digital intelligence creates opportunities for predictive energy management, demand response optimization, improved power quality, and reduced dependency on conventional energy sources. AI-enabled approaches further enhance decision-making capabilities by analyzing consumption patterns, renewable generation variability, and operational conditions to achieve optimized energy performance (Philip, 2026). However, challenges related to interoperability, cybersecurity, investment costs, data management, and technological complexity remain significant barriers to large-scale implementation.
The findings indicate that future digital buildings should be designed as intelligent energy nodes rather than isolated structures. Integration of renewable generation, energy routing technologies, and adaptive control mechanisms can significantly improve energy efficiency while supporting resilient and sustainable power networks. The research contributes a comprehensive framework for understanding how advanced digital energy strategies can accelerate the transition toward low-carbon intelligent buildings and future energy Internet environments.
